A sport skydiver performs a high-speed swoop landing after the last load of the day.
Modern high-performance skydiving canopies are capable of high-speed landings using energy generated in a skillfully judged rotating dive. Many drop zones have purpose built 'swoop ponds' for experienced skydivers to reach horizontal speeds approaching 50mph. Swoop landings can cover horizontal distances of 300-500ft with records in excess of 670ft.
